Eligibility Criteria for FBR Jobs 2025
To apply for the Sub-Inspector (BPS-14) positions announced by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), candidates must meet the following educational and physical standards:
Education Requirements
You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (at least 2nd class or Grade “C”) from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
Accepted academic disciplines include, but are not limited to:
- Economics – Understand financial systems, revenue collection, and budgeting.
- Commerce – Ideal for handling customs trade, duties, and business regulations.
- Statistics – For analytical roles that require data interpretation and reporting.
- Accounting – Vital for audits, customs evaluations, and record-keeping.
- Computer Science – Increasingly important as FBR modernizes its systems and automation.
- Law – For dealing with customs laws, smuggling cases, and regulatory frameworks.
- Pharmacy – Useful in customs control of imported/exported medical goods.
- Chemistry / Physics – Helps in the inspection of chemicals, explosives, and other sensitive materials.
- BSc Engineering (any discipline) – Particularly relevant for technical inspections, equipment use, and border scanning.
Note:Even if your degree is not listed above, if it’s relevant to the core duties of the post and from a recognized university, you may still be eligible.
Special Eligibility – Retired Armed Forces Personnel
If you’re a retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the Pakistan Armed Forces, you are also eligible to apply, as per Section 226 of the Customs Act, 1969.
This opens the door for ex-military personnel to continue serving the country in a civil enforcement role.
